Soroptimist means "best for women" and that's what we strive to be—an organization of women at their best helping other women to be their best. As a volunteer organization of business and professional women we feel uniquely qualified to help women and girls live their dreams.

SICP / EDH programs include:

  • Show N' Shine & Fly-In
    Show N' Shine Fly-In - Ponderosa Bruins Band
    With the CHP Cops and Rodders, we organize and run a free annual community-wide family event at Cameron Park Airport. Join us on Saturday, September 17, 2016, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM for a showcase of classic cars and airplanes with breakfast, live music, vendors, raffles and other activities.    shownshineflyin.com.
  • Chocolate Affair
    Chocolate Affair Live Auction Prizes
    Our largest fundraiser enables us to fund our various local awards, grants and donations! It is held annually in February with the Placerville SI Club, and features chocolate, food and wine tasting with a raffle, live and silent auctions. chocolate-affair.com.
  • LUNAFEST®: Short Films By, For, About Women
    LUNAFEST®, the annual fundraising film festival dedicated to promoting awareness about women's issues, highlighting women filmmakers, and bringing women together in their communities.
  • High School Scholarships

We award a total of four High School Scholarships each year to two graduating seniors at Oakridge High School and Ponderosa High School. Currently, each scholarship is for $1500. Scholarship applications are to be postmarked by April 9, 2016, to be considered. Applications are available at each high school - See Jill Lasko at Oakridge or Cammie Escobar at Ponderosa. Students are rated on their application, which incudes their academic accomplishments and transcripts, extra-curricular activities/employment, letters of recommendation, an essay describing their goals, and their ambitions as they relate to the Soroptimist Pledge.

Awards are given annually to supplement the needs of local non-profit groups and schools that apply. Some past award winners and others we support:

  • National Alliance on Mental Illness
  • Various local school/community projects

    Each award requires an application to be submitted which is reviewed and a local winner selected.
